The Great Orme is Llandudno's own Country Park with a profusion of fascinating and often rare wildlife, including over 21 species of butterflies, 100 different species of birds and even Kashmir goats!
An area of outstanding natural beauty, some areas which have remained undisturbed by man's activities since the last Ice Age support a variety of rare wild flowers. Panoramic views abound as far as Blackpool and the Isle of Man on a clear day to the north and the Menia Straits, Anglesey and the mountains of Snowdonia to the south. The summit can be reached by car or on foot but by far the most scenic way to travel to the top of this 629 foot high headland is by The Great Orme Tramway or for the more adventurous the Cabin Lift cable car. The Marine Drive circumnavigates the Great Orme offering spectacular cliff views along it's 5 mile route. If you don't fancy the drive yourself a coach trip which runs from St. Edward Square will allow you to take in the views in the comfort of authentic 1930's charabancs. |
